Iva Hojsak is pediatric gastroenterologist, graduated at Medical School of Zagreb in Croatia, where she also undertook her PhD degree. She is a professor of pediatrics at University of Zagreb Medical School and University of J.J. Strossmayer Medical School.

 

As head of the Referral Center for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and a deputy director of the Children's Hospital Zagreb, Prof. Hojsak has published more than 200 scientific and clinical papers as well as she has participated in more than 15 international and National scientific projects in the intestinal disorders, parenteral nutrition, intestinal microbiota, and probiotics fields.

As a pediatric gastroenterologist, Prof. Hojsak is interested in the children health including clinical practices and research in parenteral and enteral nutrition, treatment of chronic diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal failure as a part of the Nutritional Care Team.

 

After completing her medical studies at University of Zagreb Medical School in Croatia, Prof. Hojsak began her medical career as a pediatric gastroenterologist at the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, a leading Croatian center for treating children with severe gastrointestinal diseases. She also undertook a PhD degree at the University of Zagreb, always in pediatric gastroenterology.

 

Afterwards, she assumed the position of deputy director in the Children’s Hospital Zagreb, head of the Referral Center for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and professor of pediatrics at University of Zagreb Medical School and University of J.J. Strossmayer Medical School.

 

She held different positions at the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) as Education Secretary (2017-2020), Porto IBD group, board member of ESPGHAN Young Investigators Forum and was a secretary of the ESPGHAN Committee on Nutrition. And she was also a head of Scientific Committee of the Children’s Hospital Zagreb.

 

As a well-known pediatric gastroenterologist, her clinical/research interests were translated into more than 200 scientific and clinical papers encompassing intestinal disorders, parenteral nutrition, intestinal microbiota, and probiotics.
